Compressed air filter working principle
Compressed air filter cartridge is composed of fiber media, filter mesh, sponge and other materials. The solid and liquid particles (droplets) in compressed air are intercepted by the filter material and coalesced on the surface of the filter element (inside and outside), and the liquid droplets and impurities accumulated on the surface of the filter element are precipitated to the bottom of the filter by gravity and then discharged through the automatic drain or manually.
Compressed air filter grade
The classification of filter grades is based on the size of solid contaminant particles, the content of liquid water and the content of oil droplets, oil mist and oil vapor after the ISO8573 cartridge has treated compressed air.
The classification is based on the filter element (different suppliers have different definitions of the filter class symbols, which are expressed here as C/ T/ A/ H)
Main line filter
Class C main line filter can remove a large amount of liquid and solid particles of 3μm or more, and achieve a minimum residual oil content of only 5ppm, with a small amount of water, dust and oil mist. It is used for air compressor, after the rear cooler and before other filters for general protection; it is used before the cold dryer as a pre-treatment device.
Air line filter
T-class air line filter can filter out liquid and solid particles as small as 1μm, and the minimum residual oil content is only 0.5ppm, with trace moisture, dust and oil mist. It is used for pre-treatment before the A-class filter and after the chiller and suction dryer to further improve the air quality.
Super high efficiency oil removal filter
A-class ultra-high efficiency oil removal filter can filter out liquid and solid particles as small as 0.01μm, reaching a minimum residual oil content of only 0.01ppm, and almost all water, dust and oil are removed. It is used before H-stage filtration and suction dryer for protection and after cold dryer to ensure that the air is oil-free.
Activated carbon compressed air filter
H activated carbon filter can filter out oil mist and hydrocarbons as small as 0.01μm, reaching a minimum residual oil content of only 0.003ppm, free of water, dust and oil, odorless and tasteless. It is a final filter for companies that must use high quality compressed air, such as food industry, respiratory, aseptic packaging, etc.
Compressed air filter installation precautions
(1) The working pressure should not exceed the maximum pressure indicated by the filter.
(2) The filter should generally be installed after the aftercooler and storage tank, as close as possible to the point of use and the lowest temperature point.
(3) The filter should not be installed after the quick opening valve and prevent backflow and impact phenomenon.
(4) The filter should be installed vertically and leave enough space below to change the filter element.
(5) Larger compressed air filters should be properly supported in the pipeline.
