Can compressed air be used directly

Air compressor sales staff often encounter customer inquiries: "Can the compressed air generated by the air compressor be used directly?" The answer is no. The air compressed by the air compressor is cooled by the rear cooler, separated by the gas-water separator, and stabilized by the buffer tank. Generally, it is in a saturated state, its relative humidity is 100%, and there will be impurities such as oil and solid particles. Compressed air cannot be used directly and needs to be dried and purified. Therefore, we need to equip corresponding air compressor post-processing equipment. For example: gas storage tank, pipeline filter, dryer, etc.

1. Air storage tank The air storage tank has three main functions. One is to store compressed air to meet the sudden increase in gas consumption of gas equipment and ensure stable gas consumption. The second is to stabilize the air pressure and eliminate the pulsation of the air flow in the pipeline. The third is cooling and filtering, the temperature of the compressed air entering the air storage tank is lowered, so as to achieve the preliminary cooling effect.

2. Pipeline filter The function of the pipeline filter is to filter out the moisture, dust and oil in the compressed air to the greatest extent. According to the degree of filtration, the pipeline filter can be divided into primary filtration and precision filtration.

3. There are 3 ways to dry compressed air with air compressors, namely pressurization, cooling and adsorption. Commonly used dryers on the market are freeze dryers (also known as freeze dryers) and adsorption dryers. Their function is to remove water, oil, and dust, which can not be underestimated in protecting equipment and improving product quality. But not all industries need to be equipped with adsorption dryers, only food, pharmaceutical and other industries will use adsorption dryers.

Usually, the compressed air produced by the air compressor needs to be treated before it can be used directly. The quality and purity of compressed air can be affected by several factors such as environment, oil lubrication method, filters and dryers. For example, some air compressors are not oil-free air compressors, so the compressed air processed by non-oil-free air compressors may still contain impurities such as oil, water, and dust.
