Comparison of refrigerated dryer display dew point and exhaust dew point

I believe we are all familiar with air compressors, but how much do you know about the air compressor and the supporting refrigerated air dryer? What is a refrigerated air dryer? What does it do? Let's popularize it today.

A refrigerated dryer, commonly known as a chiller, cools compressed air, which allows water in the compressed air to condense and separate from the air itself, making it a critical air system component for applications that require compressed air to be dried to a low dew point. As you can see from the picture, water cannot be compressed during air compression, so it needs to be removed from the compressor (if it has a water evacuator drain), or from the storage tank, chiller dryer, etc.

So how to measure the good or bad of a refrigerated air dryer? In layman's terms, the dew point. Dew point is divided into two categories: atmospheric pressure dew point (Atmosphere Pressure Point), which is the dew point temperature at atmospheric pressure, and pressure dew point (Pressure Dew Point) compressed air when the gaseous water content reaches saturation temperature is called the dew point temperature. refrigerated air dryers are generally designed with the pressure dew point as the standard.

But is the temperature displayed on the refrigerated air dryer actually the real pressure dew point temperature? For most of the equipment on the market, due to the high price of the pressure dew point sensor, the actual temperature displayed on the refrigerated air dryer is usually not the true pressure dew point, for example, if the number seen on the display is 1~3℃, this is actually the temperature of the refrigerant associated with the sensor detected internally, whether this temperature is accurately close to the true pressure dew point temperature depends on each manufacturer's The placement of the sensor depends on the position of each manufacturer. Therefore, the more accurate the location, the better the match between the pressure dew point and the display dew point. For the display temperature, the lower the display dew point temperature, the lower the true moisture content of the compressed air.

The pressure dew point that can be achieved by the refrigerated air dryer is 3°C/5°C/7°C, up to the requirements of [/:4:/] in the compressed air quality standard ISO 8573-1:2010, and different products are selected according to different customer needs. In addition to this, Atlas Copco's unique three-in-one heat exchanger can additionally warm up dry compressed air, further reducing the relative humidity of compressed air and preventing condensation from forming in the downstream piping, giving customers a better experience.
